Excellent site and the names of various ships brought back memories of tales which probably were a main cause of me going to sea as well.
My father Jack McLennan sailed for and was a superintendent with SSM up until their demise.
Dad passed away early 2004 however if anyone has any photos of him would be most obliged for a copy.

Over the past few months have been viewing the site. Sailed with SSM from 76-82, as 4th eng. Hardly seems 30+ years have passed. Worked with BT until 98, took early retirement,trained as a chiropodist and now run my own clinics. Would like to attend the reunion if poss. Best regards to all who I had the privilege to sail with.

I`ve just found this site and was wondering if anyone on here sailed with my late brother George who was R/O.I can remember the Cape Rodney coming into our home port of Brixham for bunkers around 1984 and our family were alowed on board the ship!

The Photo is the 18th down in my Album Flann Howard's Photo's. Img FTH3. If it is the same Colin that I sailed with on the Cape Nelson pass on my regards. I trust he is still with us? He was training me in on the accounts section of our duties as R/O's. We went from Glasgow to Kirkernes and back before I was assigned to the Cape Howe. As far as my memory serves me he used to live in Belfast if it is one and the same.

I think I sailed with your Dad on my first trip with SSM as an R/O approx 1973/74 on the Cape Nelson. Did he by any chance live in Knock Belfast. If it is the same person there is a photo of him in the Photo Album section under Flann Howard's photos IMG_008 with Bob Diamond Catering Officer

I sailed on the Cape Nelson 1956 and the Baron Haigh 1957, a sucker for punishment, both old ships. photos would be appreciated.

My father was a radio officer with SSM, Colin Ritchie. I, together with my mother, Rose, and brother, David, sailed with my father on the Cape Franklin to Monrovia in 1972. Had a wonderful trip even if it was a bit rocky.
